Projeto Biodiversidade — Cabo Verde (2017)

Cabo Verde is home to the third-largest loggerhead subpopulation in the world. However, illegal harvesting of turtles and eggs remains a serious threat to these endangered animals. Recognizing that community engagement is a crucial element to conservation success, Projeto Biodiversidade has been working to educate and empower local people for many years. A 2017 SWOT grant helped train five prominent community members in conservation techniques, data collection, and conflict management skills.
